BOSTON—(March, 2008) 33 Management Group is very excited to announce that the
acclaimed Peter Eco, Executive Chef of one of Boston’s Best New Restaurants for
2008; STIX, has been given the helm of the kitchen at sister and flagship
establishment, 33 Restaurant & Lounge.
CEO and President of 33 Management Group, Greg Den Herder says, “Executive Chef
Eco has been an enormous asset to the STIX team. We are extremely pleased to be
able to have his expertise available in both restaurants. We are confident and
eager to see 33 flourish in new ways under his creativity.” Since STIX opened
its doors in November of 2007, the restaurant has received top marks from
critics and customers alike. The ambiance mixed with a menu unlike anything else
this city has seen has led to many nights of standing-room only at the Stanhope
Street restaurant.
Eco personally challenges himself to be highly organized with a strong knowledge
of culinary operations and presentation. His skill and passion shines through
each meal served at STIX. Eco says, “I believe the key to success is having a
calm kitchen where chefs concentrate on the food alone and enjoy their work.” He
adds, “The results are not only reflected in the food but throughout the entire
restaurant.” Over the years, Eco has learned the craft of cooking from a number
of great and talented chefs where he has mastered cooking styles and recipes of
French, Asian, Mediterranean, Moroccan and American cuisine. “I welcome the
opportunity and challenge of making sure both STIX and 33 continue to offer the
quality of food that has won such immense praise, and that keeps our customers
coming back again and again. This is an exciting time in my career and I am
honored to be given this opportunity,” Chef Eco says.
Eco was raised by his grandparents in New York City's Little Italy where he was
strongly influenced by their cooking techniques. At an early age Eco discovered
the art of cooking, using the freshest products, cooking them simply and
maximizing the tastes and textures. After earning his degree at Johnson & Wales
University in Providence, Rhode Island, he returned to NYC where he began his
professional career under the direction of Chef Jonathan Waxman of Buds
Restaurant. Most recently, Chef Eco was involved with a culinary event company
and prior to that, he spent some time in the kitchens of Clio and Upstairs on
the Square.
